Last weekend we had the the opportunity to join Specialized and the Stumpjumper Trail Crew in Salida, CO to ride the Monarch Crest. The ride was epic to say the least and we feel fortunate to have been able to be part of such a fun event!
The fun began immediately after the High Valley Shuttle service dropped us off at the top of the pass. From there, we started the 30 mile journey down the mountain back into Poncha Springs, CO. There’s something special about riding through the thin air that floats above timberline. At times, it was only the stunning view that reminded us that we in Colorado’s beauty and not some eerie Moonscape.
But the days memories were just beginning. From a swollen cheek and black eye for one of our riders, to a series of 29′er flats that led to a trailside bicycle exorcism, this ride wouldn’t relent!
THIS IS WHY WE RIDE!
